Is the AP test right for me?
   AP Test Schedule

The Advanced Placement (AP) exams are tests administered annually by the College Board over a two-week period in early May.  These exams give high school students an opportunity to demonstrate a high level of proficiency (a score of 4 or 5  on a 1-5 scale) in various college-level subjects and as a result , students often become eligible for an exemption for ("or place out of") many freshman level or introductory college courses.   Cupertino Tutoring offers standardized and tailored programs to help students whether they are taking an AP class at school or through independent study.  Our standard programs address students in need of a "brush up", or desiring intensive review.  Tailored programs are also available as needed for students.  We strongly recommend contacting us at least 2-3 weeks in advance of your desired start date, so we can provide you with the best tutoring options.  Call us a 877-888-6717 or Click Here to get started.

Is the AP test right for me?

The answer depends on a number of factors. Many students who consider taking at least three AP exams (a requirement for acceptance at top colleges) will have to prepare either through a high school course or independent study.   Either way, the student must measure the opportunity cost of the time investment.  Furthermore, a student must consider the impact that a poor grade in a high school AP course might have on an otherwise good GPA.  However, a high grade in an AP course taken as a junior, is usually given greater weight by colleges because by definition, it is college-level work and would likely be included in the grade report part of your college application. In addition, students taking at least three or more exams, and scoring at least a 3 or higher (on a 1-5, low to high scale), will become eligible for "AP Scholar" awards - a certification that is included in transcripts that are sent out to colleges. 1
